Wacker is a Tier 1+ neighborhood school that prides itself on being a small, personalized student–centered learning environment. Student skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking are strengthened by the intensive curriculum and high expectations. All classrooms have Promethean Boards; Chromebooks and iPads are also used to enhance learning. These investments in student–learning have led to  outstanding growth in Reading and Math c  omprehension . Wacker has partnerships with: Chicago State University , National Urban League , Roosevelt University , St. Xavier University , Trinity All Nations Ministries , University of Illinois’ "Science on the Go" Laboratory , Urban Gateways , and Youth First Counseling Services . Students are encouraged to compete in the schoolwide Spelling Bee , Science Fair , Essay , Speech , and Young Authors competitions. Wacker is also a pilot school, partnering with CASEL for developing the social and emotional competencies of students. Wacker offers art, technology, social-emotional learning, High School/College and Career Awareness classes to all grade level. We also have a full athletic program to offer students in grades 5th – 8th, along with the Pretty Brown Girls program. Wacker also offers full-day Early Childhood/Pre-K programs for 3 and 4-year olds. Enroll your student now!
